More than 100 Australian clinicians have signed an open letter calling on national health bodies to cease the use of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgical interventions on children and adolescents with gender-related distress.

This week, Australian journalist and former rugby player Peter FitzSimons went on a tirade against those who are speaking out about men in women’s sports and the need to reinstate single-sex sport for women and girls, calling them ‘purveyors of hate-bait’.

Last Wednesday, NSW Labor MLC the Hon. Greg Donnelly made a Private Members’ statement about detransitioners, and in particular, the legal action by Victorian woman Mel Jefferies against the doctors who performed her gender treatments, which she says caused her "significant harm".

In a significant move to uphold fairness and safety in women's boxing, World Boxing has announced the implementation of mandatory sex testing for all athletes over 18 competing in its events. The policy, set to take effect from 1 July 2025, requires athletes to undergo PCR genetic testing to confirm their eligibility for the female category.

Australia’s 2025 federal election has concluded with Labor securing a second term in office, whereby Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will lead a majority government after the party significantly increased its majority. Meanwhile, the Coalition suffered significant losses, with Liberal Opposition Leader Peter Dutton losing his own seat.

Gender ideology has had a devastating impact on the rights, safety and dignity of women and girls who are being forced to share female-only spaces and sports with biological males.

I doubt any sane person has heard or read the phrase ‘her penis’ without rolling their eyes. For female victims of sexual crimes, the phrase can inflict enormous trauma. For a young person learning biology, it is a confusing concept that requires an explanation of ‘gender theory’, which has no scientific basis. But while the term may seem comical, it is no laughing matter for women and girls whose dignity, privacy and safety are being compromised by the unwanted presence of males in female-only spaces.

On Monday, the Administrative Review Tribunal (formerly the Administrative Appeals Tribunal) upheld the Australian Human Rights Commission’s (AHRC) 2023 decision to deny the Lesbian Action Group (LAG) an exemption under the Sex Discrimination Act (SDA) to exclude ‘transgender lesbians’ from its public events.
