NSW’s first public mother-baby unit for severe mental illness announced

Postnatal psychosis is a serious mental illness that affects 1 to 2 women in every 1000 after childbirth. The condition can cause sudden and dramatic changes in a woman’s thinking, mood and behaviour including mood swings, hallucinations, delusions, paranoia and suicidal thoughts. Not many people know about this dangerous condition that can put mother and baby at risk and which almost always requires hospitalisation for the mother.

Japanese comic book chain, Kinokuniya, has pulled hundreds of titles from its Sydney store after South Australian politician Connie Bonaros wrote to the retailer complaining that it was selling “kiddie porn manga”.

Today Israel becomes the 8th country to implement the Nordic Model. It’s time Australia followed.

Today, Israel will become the 8th country to institute a “Nordic Model” law combating human trafficking and prostitution (the two being inextricably interlinked). Joining Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Northern Ireland, Canada, France and Ireland, Israel will make buying or attempting to buy sex illegal. The landmark law will be introduced in conjunction with public education and rehabilitation services for prostituted persons.

Miracle story of abortion survivor and the reunion with her birth mother

“Melissa Ohden is the survivor of a botched abortion. You heard that correctly. You see, Melissa’s birth mum was eight months pregnant when her mother forced her to terminate her pregnancy. She was given a toxic saline solution over five days and it should have killed Melissa. In fact, she was thrown out as medical waste. But a nurse heard her weak cries and against all odds, Melissa, weighing barely a kilo, was revived, and ultimately adopted by a loving family.”
