Last week the Prime Minister’s endorsement of Senator Claire Chandler’s “Save Women’s Sport” Bill caused general consternation among the press, with many commentators arguing that the Bill is, at best, unnecessary because it addresses an illusory problem.

Senator Claire Chandler’s bill to protect women’s sport has been given a boost after receiving the backing of Prime Minister Scott Morrison, who was enthusiastic in his support after the issue was raised by reporters at a press conference yesterday:

For years, women’s advocates have tirelessly raised concerns about the safety and fairness of transwomen (biological males) being allowed to compete in women’s sport. One of the most vocal and persistent voices has been Tasmanian Senator Claire Chandler.
