Thanks to everyone who supported Lynne Pezzullo's climb.
Crowned by an eternal snow-cap, at 5,900m Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania is the highest mountain in Africa and the tallest freestanding mountain on earth.
Therese Rein supported Women’s Forum Director Lynne Pezzullo in her climb attempt in January 2011. While researching Reality Check: Work Life Balance, Lynne was motivated by Therese who successfully combined her business, family and life goals by climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in 2009 with her son Nicholas, and has also walked the Kokoda Track.

Lynne says:
‘Therese is inspirational – a successful businesswoman, mother, wife, beautiful person, and patron to numerous charities. Like many of the women in our research, she laughs when you mention ‘work life balance’, and then provides handy tips about outsourcing and managing expectations. It is so wonderful that she is supporting my climb – I feel honoured and full of appreciation.’
Thérèse says: ‘Australian women are climbing mountains every day. As the Reality Check research shows, women are doing more now than ever before. We shape our families and our culture, and I look forward to seeing what Women’s Forum does to help provide solutions to complex issues such as work life balance.
‘For me, there were times climbing Kilimanjaro when I wondered how I could ever make it. The minus-20 temperatures, breathing in black volcanic ash and the lack of oxygen were seriously challenging. But then there was the amazing landscape, the precious time spent with my son Nicholas and the enormous sense of achievement. It was such an incredibly rewarding experience.
I encourage you to support Lynne in her Kilimanjaro climb and help Women’s Forum explore new opportunities to assist women’s wellbeing in the everyday juggle that is their lives.’
