"They understand the true value and dignity of women"

Women's Forum Australia has a broad network of supporters from diverse backgrounds and with varying skills and experiences. Women who have a passion for life and who work hard to make a meaningful contribution to their families, friends and colleagues whether it is in the home, the community, the paid workforce or in public life. Nicole is one of our valued long-term supporters.

Here's her story.

Nicole, please tell us a bit about yourself.
I am a busy mother of 3 school-aged children and I live in Melbourne. I have worked as a registered nurse, filled various volunteer positions in kindergarten and schools and am currently a part-time teacher’s assistant and bookkeeper. I love exercise, cooking and spending time with my family. I am also an avid reader and in recent years I have developed a particular interest in many cultural issues affecting children and families in our rapidly changing society.

Wow, you sound busy! With all that going on, how did you find out about Women's Forum Australia?
I found out about Women’s Forum Australia several years ago, when I was looking for a different perspective on the difficult issues affecting women and girls in today’s society. Issues that include the objectification and sexualisation of our girls, pornography, abuse and discrimination. I really liked Women's Forum Australia's evidence-based approach and the way they understand the true dignity and value of women. They also appreciate the many and varied contributions women make, particularly in our families and our wider communities.

How has Women's Forum Australia impacted you personally?
I have two daughters and bringing them up in today's society is tough! They are being bombarded with so much media advertising and popular opinion about how they should look and behave, much of which is false and harmful to their interests. Women's Forum Australia has a uniquely life-affirming, pro-woman approach to these sorts of issues which I really value. Their research, news updates, blogs and other information resources have been particularly useful in helping me to understand the issues affecting women in a much deeper way and I can draw on this knowledge to guide my daughters.

Would you recommend being part of Women's Forum Australia?
Definitely! One of the best things about being part of the Women's Forum Australia network is knowing you are not alone. You are part of a community of women out there who value an intelligent, life-affirming, pro-woman approach to issues. Women's Forum Australia connects these women and provides them with an opportunity to be heard. They promote positive female role models and stand up for women who might otherwise feel they have no voice.

Thanks Nicole, we love connecting with people like you and really value your support!

If, like Nicole, you want to connect with a community of amazing women who value a life-affirming, pro-woman approach to issues we invite you to be part of this incredible work.

We've already been able to achieve so much for women like Nicole. Imagine how much more we could do with your support!

As this financial year comes to an end, please consider joining us in our mission to bring about life-affirming, pro-woman cultural change in Australia.
